It was late in the afternoon on Oval Beach in Saugatuck, Michigan, on Lake Michigan. Before the sun could set, the fog started to roll in quickly, off of the lake. We climbed up the dune behind the beach and followed a path that lead to a small interior lake. Spring flowers were starting to bloom, and the fog settled in on the little lake, trapped on the other side of the first row of dunes. The experience was magical! I took several shots of the trees growing on the dunes, each with varying degrees of fog cover. Then I put them together to form this image.
Settling into the sunset of my life, I have returned to the love of imaging that drove me as a teenager. It's been a long journey, through motherhood (3 men and 9 grandchildren), religion, computer science career, and two wonderful marriages. It has emerged into a fuller awareness of the basic love within me, a true awareness of my real self, a spiritual awakening, and a desire to splurge with color and form, through the adventure of photography and digital imaging. I wish to express and share my appreciation for the art that is the world, through the use of focused expression in a direct image of the beauty in the world to the visual poetry of abstract impressionism through digital art.
